We are thrilled to announce the 2026 winners! Congratulations to all recipients on this well-deserved recognition.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Welcome to the Seed of Love: Character Education Lesson Plan Competition! This exciting event challenges participants to create engaging and effective lesson plans that promote character development.

Character Education is a whole-person approach to ensure personal and communal well-being and can include teaching good character, prosocial skills, citizenship awareness, or all of the above.

We invite aspiring teachers in the United States—whether they are pursuing an education degree or completing teacher preparation programs—to incorporate a focus on Character Education into their lesson planning and compete in the “Rising Teachers” group. We also welcome education volunteers and teachers from South Africa, Mozambique, Turkey, Mexico, and the Philippines to join and contribute to this initiative by competing in the “Character Education Advocates” group. You will receive an email after completing registration to confirm your group assignment.

The topic of the year is “Thankfulness.” We invite you to create a lesson plan focusing on teaching thankfulness as the primary goal. You are welcome to integrate the value of thankfulness into a specific subject. We encourage you to include interactive activities, multimedia resources, and real-world scenarios in the lesson to promote active learning. Strive to showcase your creativity, expertise, and ability to engage learners meaningfully.

Our panel of experienced teachers and experts will evaluate each submission based on clarity, applicability, and effectiveness in meeting the learning objectives. Two winners from each group will receive scholarships and have their lesson plans featured on our website, social media channels, and outreach newsletter.
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your teaching skills. So, don’t hesitate to join us and submit your best lesson plan!

As we enter the second year of the “Seed of Love” lesson plan competition, we are excited to announce an expansion of our award categories. Participants may choose to join the “Character Education Advocates” category if they are interested in developing a character education lesson plan, regardless of their background, or the “Rising Teachers” category if they are college students majoring in education or enrolled in a teacher preparation program.
